使用 IceCube 探测器首次搜寻地球中的暗物质湮灭

摘要

我们展示了 IceCube 首次在地球中心搜寻暗物质湮灭的结果。弱相互作用大质量粒子(WIMPs)作为暗物质的候选者,可以与地球内部的原子核发生散射,并降至逃逸速度以下。随着时间的推移,被捕获的 WIMPs 将会积累,并最终可能发生自湮灭。在湮灭产物中,只有中微子能够从地球中心逃逸。大型中微子望远镜,例如位于南极的立方千米级 IceCube 中微子天文台,可用于搜寻此类中微子流。我们分析了 2011/2012 年期间 327 天探测器有效时间的数据。未检测到超出大气中微子预期本底的过量事件。导出的地球中 WIMPs 湮灭率上限以及由此产生的缪子流强比上次使用 IceCube 前身 AMANDA 数据进行的分析的限制强一个数量级。这些限制可以转化为自旋无关的 WIMP-核子相互作用截面。对于 50 GeV 的 WIMP 质量,本次分析给出了使用 IceCube 数据获得的最严格限制。
