AUP Nb3Sn 四极镜水平测试的初步结果

摘要

大型强子对撞机将很快进行升级,以将其亮度提高约一个数量级[1]。这一升级的关键部分是替换 NbTi 聚焦磁铁为 Nb3Sn 磁铁,以实现约 50% 的场强提升。这将是首次在粒子加速器中大规模实施 Nb3Sn 磁铁。高亮度 LHC 升级(HL-LHC)是一个由 CERN 发起的全球合作项目。它正在施工中,并将 Nb3Sn 磁铁(命名为 MQXF)作为关键要素,用于在本十年内将 CMS 和 ATLAS 实验接收的积分亮度提高十倍。HL-LHC AUP 是美国方面的工作,旨在为 HL-LHC 贡献约 50% 的低 β 型聚焦磁铁和 crab 磁阱。本文将介绍制造 Nb3Sn 超导磁铁的计划。我们报告 HL-LHC AUP 项目的进展状态,并介绍来自水平测试的第一个完全组装 cryo-assembly 的结果。
