H.E.S.S. 对 SN 1006 的甚高能伽马射线首次探测

摘要
最近对 SN 1006 最低甚高能 (VHE) 光度的理论预测仅比先前发表的 H.E.S.S. 上限低 5 倍,因此促使对该源进行更深入的观测。从 2003 年到 2008 年,利用 H.E.S.S. 切伦科夫望远镜阵列在 VHE 能段(100 GeV 以上)进行了深度观测。已收集了超过 100 小时的数据,并采用了改进的分析程序进行处理。观测结果探测到了来自 SN 1006 的 VHE 伽马射线。测得的伽马射线谱与幂律谱相符,其通量约为蟹状星云探测通量的 1%,因此与先前确立的 H.E.S.S. 上限一致。该源呈现双极形态,与非热 X 射线强烈相关。由于 VHE 壳层的厚度与薄边缘的发射相符,激波中的粒子加速很可能是伽马射线信号的起源。测得的通量水平可以由逆康普顿发射解释,但包含轻子和强子成分并考虑从观测推断的环境物质密度的混合场景,同样能对多波段光谱给出令人满意的描述。
