首次探测到来自天体物理源的百 TeV 以上能量光子

摘要

我们报道西藏羊八井空气簇射阵列结合地下水切伦科夫型μ子探测器阵列观测到的来自蟹状星云的最高能量光子。基于空气簇射中测得μ子数的判据,我们成功抑制了 99.92% 能量 E>100E>100 TeV 的宇宙线背景事件。结果,我们观测到 24 个 E>100E>100 TeV 的类光子事件,背景为 5.5 个,对应 5.6σ\sigma 统计显著性。这是首次探测到来自天体物理源的 E>100E>100 TeV 光子。
