与星体活动相关能量注入的后果常被称为“反馈效应”。评估其详细物理及此类效应的作用是现代星系形成与演化理论的核心议题。在这些讲座中，我们综述了与反馈相关的各个方面，特别强调于宇宙仅为 100 Myr old 时刻（即常称“宇宙黎明”），即首次星系与星体在其中引入可见时代的那段时期。
