我们展示了最近发现的银河系卫星星系波江座II (Eri II)的麦哲伦/IMACS光谱观测。我们在Eri II中证认出28颗成员星,由此测量出系统视向速度和速度弥散度。假设Eri II是一个处于动力学平衡的弥散度支撑系统,我们推导出Eri II半光半径内的质量为,表明质光比为,并确认它是一个暗物质主导的矮星系。根据16颗红巨星成员星的CaT谱线等值宽度测量,我们推导出平均金属丰度为,金属丰度弥散度为。Eri II在银河系静止标准系中的速度为,表明Eri II要么是首次落入银河系势阱,要么是在后续轨道运行中经过了远心点。在约370 kpc的银心距离处,Eri II是已知的银河系最远卫星星系之一。此外,我们表明先前被认为是一个年轻星族的亮蓝星与Eri II并不相关。考虑到Eri II的质量和距银河系的距离,其缺乏气体和近期恒星形成令人惊讶,这可能对矮星系中的淬灭模型以及银河系晕中热气体的分布施加限制。此外,Eri II较大的速度弥散度可与中心星团的存在相结合,以约束质量的MACHO暗物质。
