儿童和青少年在同伴群体中互动，已知这些群体会影响一系列心理与行为结果。在发展心理学及相关学科中，以 SCM 4.0 软件实现的社会认知映射（SCM）是从同伴报告数据中识别同伴群体最常用的方法。然而，在一系列四项研究中，我们证明 SCM 具有不可接受的假阳性风险。具体而言，我们表明即使将 SCM 应用于随机数据，它也会识别出同伴群体。我们引入骨干提取与社区发现作为 SCM 的一种有前景的替代方案，并为寻求从同伴报告数据中识别同伴群体的研究者提供若干建议。
