NGC 3938中离子气体的Fabry-Perot观测

几乎面对面的螺旋星系NGC 3938以线被观察于William Herschel Telescope上的TAURUS II Fabry-Perot干涉仪，以研究离子气体的运动学。我们能够构建该星系的强度、速度和速度分散图。该星系的旋转曲线计算至银河中心的4.5个径向比例长度。残余速度场显示极小值且无系统模式。平均速度分散约为常数，约为11 km/s，此前已报告中性和分子气体。我们还研究了强度与速度分散之间的关系。我们发现该分布与湍流气体趋于柯伊伯纳湍流作为平稳状态相容。平均分散随强度变化为，尽管在更高强度时变得更陡峭，此时分散几乎保持在约19 km/s的值。
