法德联合研究所 (ISL) 安装了多台轨道炮，其中最大的是 PEGASUS 加速器。这是一台长 6 米、口径 4x4 cm² 的分布式能量供应 (DES) 轨道炮，配备有 10 MJ 的电容器组作为能源。过去，该装置曾用于将质量约为 300 g 的弹丸加速至高达 2500 m/s 的速度。在正在进行的调查中，试图将更重的弹丸加速至 2000 m/s 以上的速度。为此，开发了一种包含有效载荷段的新类型弹丸。本文讨论了使用 3.8 MJ 至 4.8 MJ 初级能量进行有效载荷弹丸实验的结果。
