哈勃空间望远镜紫外观测揭示 Ia 型超新星多样性证据

本文展示利用哈勃空间望远镜先进巡天相机紫外棱镜获取的四颗 Ia 型超新星(SNe 2004dt、2004ef、2005M 和 2005cf)的紫外光谱与测光数据。该数据集提供了低至 2000 埃的独特光谱时间序列。在这一小样本的近极大光谱(约 2000–3500 埃)中观测到显著多样性。相应的测光数据,结合 Swift 紫外/光学望远镜的档案观测,进一步证明紫外发射相对于光学波段具有更大的弥散度。在 uvw1/F250W 波段测得的峰值光度与 B 波段光变曲线形状参数 dm15(B) 存在相关性,但其弥散度远大于宽波段 B 波段的相关性(例如,对于 0.8 < dm15 < 1.7 mag 的超新星,紫外波段约 0.4 mag,而 B 波段约 0.2 mag)。SN 2004dt 被发现是该相关性的离群值(超过 3 sigma),在 uvw1/F250W 和 uvm2/F220W 滤光片下分别比 SN 2005cf 等正常 Ia 型超新星亮约 0.9 mag 和 2.0 mag。我们证明,仅凭前身星金属丰度或谱线膨胀速度的差异无法解释如此大的偏差。视角效应,例如由非对称爆炸引起的效应,可能对紫外区域发射的通量有显著影响。需要详细建模来厘清和量化上述效应。
