NGC 4993 中 GW170817 中子星双星动力学驱动形成的证据

我们呈现对 NGC 4993 的研究,它是 GW170817 引力波事件、GRB170817A 短伽马射线暴(sGRB)以及 AT2017gfo 千新星的宿主星系。我们利用暗能量相机成像、AAT 光谱以及公开可用数据,将我们的发现与双中子星(BNS)形成情景及并合延迟时标相联系。NGC4993 是一个邻近(40 Mpc)的早型星系,其 ii 波段 S\'ersic 指数 n=4.0n=4.0 且低不对称性(A=0.04±0.01A=0.04\pm 0.01)。这些性质对于 sGRB 宿主而言不同寻常。然而,NGC4993 呈现出壳状结构与尘埃带,表明近期发生过星系并合,且光学瞬变源位于一处壳层附近。我们假设星系并合产生了星暴,以此约束该星系的恒星形成历史(SFH),但在空间分辨的宽带 SED 或光谱拟合中均发现几乎没有正在进行恒星形成。我们利用最佳拟合 SFH 估算此类星系中的 BNS 并合率,为 RNSMgal=5.73.3+0.57×106yr1R_{NSM}^{gal}= 5.7^{+0.57}_{-3.3} \times 10^{-6} {\rm yr}^{-1}。若恒星形成是唯一被考虑的 BNS 形成情景,则在 LIGO 前两个观测季中由早型星系产生的可被探测到的 BNS 并合预期数目为 0.0380.022+0.0040.038^{+0.004}_{-0.022},而所有星系类型合计约为 0.5\sim 0.5。假设双星系统因星系并合期间的动力学相互作用而形成,则随后经过的时间可约束 BNS 聚并的延迟时间。通过使用速度弥散估计与壳层位置,我们发现星系并合发生于 BNS 聚并之前 tmer200 Myrt_{\rm mer}\lesssim 200~{\rm Myr}
