星团是 EUV 与软 X 射线的强辐射源，远超过其在 X 射线温度下热内群星体介质的贡献。该现象最初在 Virgo 星团发现 EUV 超标量后，随后也被报告见于 Coma、A1795 和 A2199 星团。最近的再观测确认了这一发现，进一步对附近星团样本进行大规模搜索明显揭示了该发现的宇宙学影响。
