Euclid:利用深场巡天搜寻对不稳定超新星

摘要

对不稳定超新星是理论预言但尚未经观测证实的超新星,预计存在于低金属丰度环境中。由于整体金属丰度在更高红移处更低,探测高红移超新星的深近红外暂现源巡天适于发现对不稳定超新星。计划于 2023 年发射的 Euclid 卫星配备有近红外宽视场仪器,适合高红移超新星巡天。Euclid 深场巡天计划在 Euclid 六年主任务期内对三个 Euclid 深场(总计 40 deg²)进行定期观测。尽管对 Euclid 深场的观测并不频繁,我们表明预言的对不稳定超新星的长持续时间将使我们能够利用 Euclid 深场巡天搜寻高红移对不稳定超新星。基于 Euclid 任务当前观测计划,我们进行巡天模拟以估计预期的对不稳定超新星发现数量。我们发现,在 Euclid 深场巡天中可发现多达数百颗 z < ~3.5 的对不稳定超新星。我们还表明,对不稳定超新星候选体可通过其在当前 Euclid 深场巡天计划下可确定的持续时标与颜色被高效甄别。我们得出结论:若对不稳定超新星的事件率如近期理论研究预言般高,则 Euclid 任务可带来对不稳定超新星的首次证实。我们还基于最新观测计划更新了 Euclid 深场巡天中超亮超新星发现的预期数量。
