2017年8月21日日全食期间，日食太阳半径估计为 （在 处），且无明显波长依赖。该测量通过对在 umbral 阴影路径南界记录的日食闪光谱视频进行分析获得。我们的分析通过从闪光谱中提取光变曲线，并将其与模拟光变曲线进行比较来进行。模拟通过对临边昏暗函数（LDF）在光球暴露区域上积分完成。这些数值积分依赖于对月球与太阳边缘相对运动的非常精确的计算。
