TOTEM 在 $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV 下对弹性微分截面的测量

摘要

TOTEM 合作组利用专用的 β=90\beta^{*}=90 m 束流光学,在 s=13\sqrt{s}=13 TeV 的 LHC 能量下测量了质子-质子弹性微分截面 dσ/dt{\rm d}\sigma/{\rm d}t。Roman Pot 探测器被插入到距 LHC 束流 10σ\sigma 处,从而得以在四动量转移平方 t|t|[0.04[0.04 GeV2^{2};4; 4 GeV2^{2}]] 范围内进行测量。高效的数据获取使得约 109^{9} 个弹性事例被收集,从而精确测量了微分截面,包括衍射极小(dip)、随后的极大(bump)以及大-t|t| 尾部。在 t|t| 范围 0.04 0.04~GeV2^{2}0.2 0.2~GeV2^{2} 内,平均核斜率被发现为 B=(20.40±0.002stat±0.01syst) B=(20.40 \pm 0.002^{\rm stat} \pm 0.01^{\rm syst})~GeV2^{-2}。极小位置为 tdip=(0.47±0.004stat±0.01syst) |t_{\rm dip}|=(0.47 \pm 0.004^{\rm stat} \pm 0.01^{\rm syst})~GeV2^{2}。在 bump 处相对于 dip 处的微分截面比值 R=1.77±0.01statR=1.77\pm0.01^{\rm stat} 已被高精度测量。TOTEM 的一系列弹性 pp 测量表明,该 dip 是 TeV 尺度下 pp 微分截面的永久特征。
