DUSEL理论白皮书
摘要
美国国家科学基金会(NSF)已选定南达科他州利德市作为深部地下科学与工程实验室(DUSEL)的选址。事实上,南达科他州已率先行动,为该拟建实验室提供了自有资金,详见 http://www.sanfordlaboratoryathomestake.org/index.html。NSF关于DUSEL首批实验方案的最终资助决定将于2009年初做出,届时NSF科学委员会必须做出裁决。已有约200名实验物理学家表示有兴趣在DUSEL开展实验。为评估理论界的兴趣,俄亥俄州立大学(OSU)宇宙学与天体粒子物理中心(CCAPP)于2008年4月4日至6日在俄亥俄州哥伦布市组织了一场为期三天的DUSEL理论研讨会。研讨会聚焦于DUSEL六项拟议实验的科学依据:长基线中微子振荡、质子衰变、暗物质、天体物理中微子、无中微子双贝塔衰变以及中子-反中子振荡。本次研讨会的成果即为这份DUSEL理论白皮书,其阐述的科学依据有望为NSF及美国国会的政策制定者在决策过程中提供参考。为评估物理学界对DUSEL项目的兴趣,我们已将DUSEL理论白皮书发布在以下CCAPP链接:http://ccapp.osu.edu/whitepaper.html。请阅读该白皮书,若您感兴趣,请通过该链接联署以示支持。
