摘要
1970 年，仅基于理论依据，预言所有强子总截面将随能量升高而无限制地增加。这与当时的传统信念相悖。1978 年，针对质子 - 质子和反质子 - 质子相互作用情形，构建了一个精确的现象学模型。1984 年，利用额外可用的实验数据，对该模型的参数进行了微调。此后三十年来，这些参数未曾改变。本文总结了这一发展历程，特别是构建该现象学模型的艰巨任务，以及将该模型的预言与后续实验结果进行的对比。
