我们通过计算到 SN2009ip 的距离，展示了我们新方法（致密壳层方法，DSM）在测定天文距离上的适用性。这颗超新星的距离已通过标准方法经由宇宙距离阶梯被精确测定，结果为 20.4 Mpc。我们的直接方法在假定最合理参数值的情况下给出了非常接近的结果，即到 SN2009ip 的距离为 20.1+/-0.8 (68% CL) Mpc。
