西蒙·马里乌斯（Simon Marius，1573–1625）是否于 1610 年 1 月 8 日（儒略历 1609 年 12 月 29 日）观测到木星卫星这一问题尚无定论，因为他未披露其研究方法与所用仪器。为解决此问题，我们应用天文代码并评估伽利略·伽利雷（Galileo Galilei，1564–1642）所用望远镜复制品的视觉性能。
