探测到来自蟹状星云脉冲星能量高于100 GeV的脉冲伽马射线

摘要

我们报告了利用VERITAS大气切伦科夫望远镜阵列探测到来自蟹状星云脉冲星能量高于100吉电子伏特(GeV)的脉冲伽马射线。这一探测结果无法基于现有的脉冲星模型加以解释。脉冲辐射在100兆电子伏特(MeV)至400 GeV之间的光子谱可用一个折线幂律谱描述,该谱在统计上优于带指数截断的幂律谱。用曲率辐射作为所观测到的100 GeV以上伽马射线的起源来解释该观测结果的可能性不大。我们的发现要求这些伽马射线产生于距离中子星10个恒星半径以上的区域。
