振荡红巨星的探测与表征:TESS卫星的初步结果

自高精度、高节奏测光学的“空间革命”开始以来,星震学已被证明是为银河系考古研究提供信息的有力工具。NASA TESS任务的发射使得基于震波的推断能够覆盖全天空——这为银河系不同组分的大样本整体研究提供了明显优势。在此,我们通过开展由TESS观测的红巨星恒星的首次星震学整体研究,展示其在探究银河系方面的潜力。我们使用一个包含25颗恒星的样本,测量其全局星震学可观测量,并估算其基本恒星属性,如半径、质量和年龄。与单独应用星震学和天体测量学相比,将TESS的震波可观测量与Gaia任务的天体测量相结合时,我们的估算不确定性显著改善。具体而言,结合后我们表明恒星半径可确定到百分之几的精度,质量到5–10%,年龄到20%的水平。这与通常使用Kepler任务末段数据获得的精度相当。
