利用紫外光谱探测系外行星轨道上的火山活动产生的环

摘要

我们建议使用哈勃空间望远镜(HST)对 TESS 目标进行后续观测,以探测绕 M 型矮星运行的系外行星轨道沿线可能存在的等离子体环。该环的源可能是行星因潮汐或电磁感应加热产生的火山活动。对于这些活跃恒星周围的行星,向太空的快速物质损失可导致失落物质沿行星轨道形成环,类似于 Io 等离子体环。我们表明,此类环有可能被 HST 在紫外波段探测到。
