我们对 lenticular 星系 NGC 404、NGC 3593 和 NGC 4293 进行 CO 和 HCN 同时观测，并在 NGC 3593 和 NGC 4293 中检测到 HCN 发射，同时在所有星系中检测到 CO。NGC 3593 和 NGC 4293 的 I(HCN)/I(CO) 比值分别为 0.025+-0.006 和 0.066+-0.005，这些值相当于后期类型星系的值。包含后期类型的 12 个近距离星系中心的 I(HCN)/I(CO) 比值的平均值为 0.055+-0.028。CO 和 HCN 发射的线轮廓在两个星系中呈现不同的形状。HCN 峰值不位于这些星系的系统速度附近，而 CO 峰值位于系统速度附近。这表明这些星系中心附近的稠密分子气体比例较高。
