摘要
简并的非相对论和超相对论费米气体的能量公式在关于恒星核坍缩为中子星的简单论证中扮演着多重角色。这些公式与位力定理及其他一些基本物理原理结合使用，提供了对坍缩开始时核心的温度、质量和半径（因此也包括密度和熵）的惊人良好的估计；冷致密残骸的最终半径和成分；以及坍缩过程中因中微子发射而损失的总能量。
