2006 年在西安举行的关于活动星系核中心引擎的会议涵盖了活动星系核研究的巨大且不断扩展的领域，从理论到最先进的观测，从伽马射线能量到长无线电波长。本简短综述总结了与会者提出的一些（但绝非全部）亮点和新成果。
