GPI和MagAO揭示的HD 100546过渡盘中的复杂螺旋结构

我们展示了由麦哲伦自适应光学系统(MagAO)和双子行星成像仪(GPI)拍摄的过渡盘HD 100546的光学和近红外高对比度图像。GPI数据包括偏振强度和总强度图像,而MagAO数据是在Hα波段的同步差分成像模式下获取的。新的GPI H波段总强度数据在灵敏度和视场旋转方面相比以往数据集有显著提升,使得能够详细探测盘中的亚结构。数据通过多种差分成像技术(偏振、角度、参考和同步差分成像)进行处理,试图识别在不同波长、处理技术和算法参数下最一致的盘结构。15 au处的内盘空腔在多个数据集中清晰分辨,各种螺旋特征也是如此。虽然空腔和螺旋结构在几种算法及一系列算法参数下均以显著区别于盘相邻区域的水平被识别出,但HD 100546 c位置的发射从激进算法参数下的点状变化为保守参数下的平滑连续结构,且与盘发射一致。在HD 100546盘中识别出的特征与中等倾角双臂螺旋盘的计算模型在定性上相似,其中投影效应和螺旋臂绕恒星缠绕导致正向建模图像中出现多个截断的螺旋特征。
