摘要
我们比较了最新的哈勃望远镜对Seyfert和类星体NLRs的观测结果，发现类型2 AGNs遵循与由中心源期望的分布一致的关系R(NLR,2) \propto L^{0.32 +/- 0.05}，而类型1对象拟合得到更陡的斜率为0.55 +/- 0.05。后者相当于BLR尺寸与连续光强度的比例(斜率:0.5-0.7)。因此，我们调查如果NLR尺寸仅由AGN亮度决定，可以从中获得什么信息。我们发现NLR和BLR尺寸遵循线性关系R(BLR) \propto R(NLR,1)^{0.88 +/- 0.1}。这一关系可用于估算黑洞质量。
