JUNO、IceCube升级版与PINGU联合探测中微子质量排序的灵敏度

摘要
中微子质量本征态的排序是中微子物理学中基本的开放问题之一。当前一代中微子振荡实验能够对此排序给出中等程度的指示,而下一代即将到来的实验旨在提供确凿证据。本文中,我们研究了两台未来多用途中微子振荡实验JUNO与IceCube升级版的联合性能,它们采用两条截然不同且互补的路径来探测中微子质量排序。由中基线反应堆中微子实验JUNO所采取的方案,包括对十个核反应堆堆芯产生的经振荡的能谱进行细致研究。另一方面,IceCube升级版由部署在IceCube DeepCore中心额外七根密集布设的字符串组成,将观测大量经历受地球物质影响振荡的大气中微子。在两种方案的联合拟合中,它们所偏好的错误质量排序下的质量平方差之间存在张力。对于JUNO与IceCube升级版,这使得在3–7年的时间尺度上以排除错误排序成为可能——即便在对其各自灵敏度不利的情形下亦然。对于PINGU,一个设计为IceCube潜在低能扩展的26弦探测器阵列,在联合分析中倒置排序可在1.5年内被排除(正常排序则需3年)。
