过去20年发现的大多数奇异强子，如果假设存在第七种夸克味，则可以作为正常介子和重子纳入夸克模型。如果该夸克质量约为2.9 GeV，电荷为-1/3，并通过轻标量介子衰变为其他夸克和c\bar{c}，那么它能够再现大多数观测到的奇异强子的质量、自旋、宇称、产生和衰变模式。还对其他强子以及观测到的奇异强子的新产生和衰变模式做出了预测。
