NASA开普勒任务收集的第一批公开的长周期恒星测光数据现已发布。在本文中，我们根据太阳-like振荡来描述这个大样本中的红巨星（G-K型星）。我们在分析中使用了已发表的方法和众所周知的标度关系。样本中略超过70%的红巨星显示出可探测的太阳-like振荡，通过这些振荡我们能够估算恒星的基本性质。这种星震学分析揭示了不同的星族：低光度的H壳燃烧红巨星支恒星、红巨星支上冷的高光度红巨星以及He核燃烧的星团和次星团巨星。
