尽管ASC A已指出射电星系与Seyfert星系之间存在强烈相似性，但有些射电星系似乎并不符合ASC A提出的射电安静性AGN模型中所建议的冷薄吸积盘模型。BeppoSAX对3C390.3和Centaurus A的观测表明，负责光子再加工的冷质量仍然存在于这些天体中，但并不必然位于主要X射线源的附近。宽线射电星系3C111特征less的光谱表明，距离X射线源较远的冷质量不存在，或者 alternatively，存在强大的喷流X射线成分。
