超巨星壳层，特别是LMC 4的结构，很难用随机自传播恒星形成来解释。一系列超巨星结构沿着大麦哲伦星云的外缘分布，并形成一个按顺时针方向年龄递增的序列。我们考虑了大麦哲伦星云的旋转及其穿过银河系晕的运动，并提出这些结构的起源在于大麦哲伦星云前缘形成的弓形激波中诱导的恒星形成。由于大麦哲伦星云的旋转，这些结构随后会移开。
