星震学可揭示红巨星内部的强磁场

摘要

恒星内部磁场无法直接观测,关于其振幅、几何形态和演化所知甚少。我们证明,红巨星核心中的强磁场可通过星震学识别。这些磁场可经由受抑的偶极恒星振荡模式显现,该现象源于磁温室效应,即在恒星核心内散射并捕获振荡模式能量。开普勒卫星已观测到数十颗具有受抑偶极模式的红巨星,我们将其解释为具有强磁化核心的恒星。我们发现大于  ⁣105G\sim\! 10^5 \,{\rm G} 的场强可能产生观测到的抑制,且在一个案例中推断出核心场强下限约为  ⁣ ⁣107G\approx \! \! 10^7 \,{\rm G}
