我们呈现了利用配备相控阵馈源的澳大利亚 SKA 探路者(ASKAP)的六台天线对星系群 IC 1459 进行的 HI 成像。我们在约 6 平方度视场內、天空分辨率约 1 角分和速度分辨率约 8 km/s 的条件下,探测并分辨了 11 个星系中的 HI,直至柱密度 cm。我们给出了所有探测源的 HI 图像、速度场和积分谱,并重点介绍了三团 HI 云的发现——两团位于星系 IC 5270 附近,一团靠近 NGC 7418。每团云的质量为 M,约占其宿主星系关联 HI 的 15%。在紫外、光学和红外波长上可用的图像未揭示任何云团有明确的恒星对应体,表明它们并非 IC 5270 和 NGC 7418 的富气体矮伴星系。利用 Parkes 数据,我们发现了 IC 5270 周围存在额外的广延、低柱密度 HI 发射的证据,表明这些云只是环绕该星系的更大气体系统的冰山一角。这一结果增添了 IC 1459 星系群内存在星系间气体的证据体。总之,在该群星系外发现的 HI 总量达数倍 M,至少占星系内所含 HI 的 10%。这表明在该群数十亿年的演化过程中,气体在星系内外存在大量流动。
