HiRes 探测器对电子中微子通量的上限

摘要

空气荧光探测器(如高分辨率飞眼(HiRes)探测器)对向上运动、掠地超高能电子中微子诱导的簇射非常敏感。这是由于这些高能中微子相对较大的相互作用截面以及朗道 - 波梅兰丘克 - 米格达尔(LPM)效应。LPM 效应导致轫致辐射和电子对产生的截面显著降低,使得发生在地球深处地壳中的带电流电子中微子诱导簇射在穿出地球进入大气层时能够被探测到。对 HiRes-II 单目数据集的向上运动中微子诱导簇射搜索得出了零结果。基于电子在岩石中诱导簇射的带电粒子能谱随初级能量和深度的 LPM 计算,我们计算了这些簇射在空气中的轮廓形状。我们描述了一个完整的探测器蒙特卡洛模拟,以确定探测器对向上运动电子中微子诱导级联的响应,并给出了电子中微子通量的上限。
