二维拓扑物质态为量子计算提供了一条路径，该路径在拓扑上受到保护，可抵御量子电路模型的克星：退相干。工业界、政府和学术机构的研究团体正在追求这一方法。我们给出一个数学家的视角，审视该模型的一些优势与挑战，并强调一些近期进展。随后我们简要描述如何将理论推广到三维材料。
