堆肥在世界范围内用作作物的土壤改良剂,但其功能仍待探索。此处,以根菜植物模型胡萝卜为对象,研究了在施用经嗜热芽孢杆菌科发酵堆肥的田间中胡萝卜的组学谱,以考察生长与质量指标。暴露于堆肥显著提高了胡萝卜根的生产力、抗氧化活性、红色与风味,并改变了土壤细菌组成以及叶、根和土壤的特征代谢物水平。基于数据,结构方程模型(SEM)估计植物中的 L-2-氨基己二酸、苯丙氨酸、黄酮类和/或类胡萝卜素经堆肥暴露被最优关联。土壤 SEM 估计芽孢杆菌属、L-2-氨基己二酸与烟酰胺、以及 S-甲基-L-半胱氨酸在暴露过程中最优参与。这些估计与堆肥来源芽孢杆菌分离株的全基因组分析以及生物活性数据无矛盾,推断出堆肥自身存在复杂的促植物生长效应级联及对氮循环的调控。这些观察提供了复杂土壤-植物相互作用中堆肥定性指标的信息,并通过天然氮的高效利用为化学独立的可持续农业提供了新视角。
