为了理解 z<1 宇宙中明亮 AGN，ASCA AGN samples 目前仍是最佳选择。将来自 ASCA Large Sky Survey 和 Medium Sensitivity Survey 的已识别 AGN sample 合并后，硬 X射线选中的 AGN sample 规模已扩展至 108 个 AGNs，Flux limit 为 10^{-13} erg s^{-1} cm^{-2}，覆盖 2-10 keV 硬 X射线波段。我们讨论了硬 X射线选中的 AGN sample 中被吸收 AGNs 的比例，以及被吸收的明亮 AGNs 的性质。
