AGAPE 是一项通过新颖方法——对未分辨恒星的引力微透镜效应——在 M31 方向搜寻大质量致密晕天体(MACHO)的观测项目。该搜寻包括检查 CCD 像素光变曲线以寻找微透镜特征。已实现了探测微透镜事件所需的高时间稳定性,安静像素的稳定性在光子噪声的两倍以内(最亮的像素低至 0.001 星等)。数据分析仍在进行中,但已发现数百个变源(造父变星、新星等)。其中有几条光变曲线类似于微透镜事件。
