LHCb探测器在LHC上的绝对亮度测量

摘要
绝对亮度测量对存储环上的对撞束流实验具有普遍意义。这些测量对于确定反应过程的绝对截面是必要的,且对评估加速器性能具有重要价值。利用2010年采集的数据,LHCb应用两种方法确定了其在LHC上质子-质子碰撞(质心能量7 TeV)亮度测量的绝对标度。除经典的"van der Meer scan"方法外,还开发了一种新技术,利用束流-气体和束流-束流相互作用对单个束流进行直接成像。该束流成像方法得益于LHCb顶点探测器的高分辨率及其与束流的近距离,能够确定束流的位置、角度和宽度等参数。两种方法的结果具有可比的精度且吻合良好。结合两种方法,绝对亮度测定的总体精度达到3.5%。本文还 presenting 了将绝对亮度标度传递至2010年全部数据获取时段所采用的技术。
