我们呈现UBVR星系调查中关于巨型和小型麦哲伦星系的光度测量及初步解释。我们确定了蓝色巨型星和红色巨型星的相对数目。我们还比较了红色巨型星(RSGs)和猎户星的相对数，证明其与金属丰度呈强而紧密的相关性，并重新研究了发现于野外的巨型恒星初始质量函数斜率。
