年轻恒星被气体和尘埃组成的拱星盘所包围,行星形成可发生于其中。多星系统中的引力作用会破坏该盘。理论模型预言,若盘与恒星轨道平面错位,盘应当发生扭曲并断裂为进动环,这一现象被称为盘撕裂。我们给出了对三星系统GW Orionis的观测,发现了盘撕裂的证据。我们的图像显示了一个与轨道平面及外盘均错位的偏心环。该环在盘强烈扭曲的中间区域投下阴影。若行星能在扭曲盘中形成,盘撕裂可提供一种在倾斜轨道上形成宽间距行星的机制。
