推进下一代对撞机磁体技术的战略途径

摘要

对撞机建立在超导磁体技术的基础之上,该技术提供强偶极磁体以维持束流轨道,并提供强聚焦磁体以实现在能量前沿探测物理所需的极高亮度。偶极磁体强度在决定对撞机能量可达范围方面起着关键作用,而超导磁体可谓未来对撞机设施的主导成本驱动因素。随着学界考虑探索新能量前沿的机遇,先进磁体技术的重要性——无论在磁体性能方面还是在其降本潜力方面——都显而易见,因为技术现状对于就物理可达目标与设施可行性做出明智决策至关重要。
