利用暗能量相机搜寻双黑洞并合 GW170814 的光学辐射

摘要

LIGO 和 Virgo 探测器发现的双黑洞(BBH)并合对天体物理学界具有极大的科学意义,但被认为不太可能是电磁辐射的源。为检验它们是否具有快速衰减的光学对应体,我们使用暗能量相机对 BBH 并合 GW170814(首个由三台干涉仪探测到的引力波)进行了 ii 波段搜寻。位于暗能量巡天(DES)覆盖区域内的 87 平方度定位区域(90% 置信度)使我们能够对 86% 的可能天区成像至 i23i\sim 23 星等深度,并提供搜寻 BBH 并合电磁发射最全面的数据集。为甄别候选体,我们对搜寻图像与已有 DES 模板图像进行差分成像。分析策略与筛选条件旨在剔除超新星并识别在前两个历元中衰减的暂现源。我们找到两个候选体,每个都与 DES 星表中的一颗恒星或高红移星系空间重合,因此它们不太可能与 GW170814 相关。我们的搜寻未发现与 GW170814 相关的候选体,排除了并合后 1–2 天内亮度高于 i23i\sim 23 星等(Loptical5×1041L_{\rm optical} \sim 5\times10^{41} erg/s)的 BBH 并合快速衰减光学辐射。就引力波天区图覆盖而言,这是迄今对 BBH 并合光学对应体最完整的搜寻。
