通过X射线森林测量温暖-热离子介质中缺失质子的质量

摘要

最近的宇宙学测量表明,质子约占宇宙总质能密度的四个百分之一,这与来自最轻元素产量研究的预测相符。它也与在z>2时检测到的实际质子数相一致。然而,接近我们所在时代(z<2)时,实际检测到的质子数仅约占在z>2时检测到的质子数的一半多(约55%),意味着约45%的质子“缺失”。本文报告了对此前未被检测到的质子Population质量密度的确定,即位于温暖-热相的星际介质中。我们展示了这种质量密度在不确定性范围内与缺失质子的质量密度一致。
