通过质子上的深度虚康普顿散射初探胶子

摘要

质子由夸克和胶子组成,它们受强相互作用中最难以捉摸的机制——即禁闭——所束缚。在本工作中,我们利用深度虚康普顿散射(DVCS)研究夸克和胶子的动力学:一个多 GeV 电子产生一个高度虚的光子,该光子与质子散射,随后质子辐射出一个高能光子。类似于全息术,不仅测量 DVCS 振幅的大小,还测量其相位,可以对质子的内部结构进行三维成像。该相位可通过 DVCS 与 Bethe-Heitler(BH)过程的量子力学干涉来获得,在 BH 过程中,末态光子由电子而非质子辐射。本文通过利用 DVCS 和 BH 振幅截然不同的能量依赖性,报告了 BH-DVCS 干涉的首次完整测定。在散射过程预期发生于质子中单个夸克上的高能区域,这些精确测量显示出对强相互作用载体——胶子的引人注目的敏感性。
