NGC 5548 中心超大质量黑洞产生的快速且长寿命的流出

摘要

活动星系核中的超大质量黑洞通过强大的电离气体风排出大量物质。原型活动星系 NGC 5548 已被研究数十年,高分辨率 X 射线和紫外观测此前已显示出持续存在的电离流出。2013 年由六个空间天文台联合开展的观测活动显示,该星系核被一条前所未见、长期存在且团块状的电离气体流所遮蔽。它阻挡了 90% 的软 X 射线辐射,并导致同时出现的深且宽的紫外吸收谷。该气体的流出速度高达持续流出的五倍,且其距星系核仅几个光日,很可能起源于吸积盘。
