当代物理的一个核心问题是引力定律在星系尺度上是否非牛顿。Rodrigues 等人认为,Milgromian 引力(无需暗物质粒子即可解决平坦自转曲线问题)在 > 10{σ} 显著性下被排除。在很大程度上,该结论依赖于距离非常不确定和/或近乎侧向取向的星系,其中尘埃遮挡通常变得显著。对数据施加适当的质量筛选后,根据 Rodrigues 等人的分析,仅留下少数偏离 Milgromian 引力预言的离群点,但即便这些离群点也可用 Milgromian 引力解释。
