紧凑星系群 (CG) 是典型成员间分离距离约为一个星系直径的相对贫困的星系群,为研究密集星系环境及短于 1 Gyr 的动力学时间尺度提供了卓越的实验室。本文中,我们在 153 平方度的 Sloan 数字天文台早期数据发布 (SDSS EDR) 中呈现了一个客观定义的 CG 目录。为识别 CG,我们应用了修改版的 Hickson (1982) 标准,以寻找最高密度的 CG 从而减少偶然错位的数量。该目录包含 175 个 CG,限定星系亮度为 r* = 21。 resulting catalog has a median depth of approximately z = 0.13, substantially deeper than previous CG catalogs. Since the SDSS will eventually image up to one quarter of the celestial sphere, we expect our final catalog, based upon the completed SDSS, will contain on the order of 5,000 - 10,000 CGs. This catalog will be useful for conducting studies of the general characteristics of CGs, their environments, and their component galaxies.
