AKARI红外天文卫星和斯皮策空间望远镜最近对质量流失恒星的远红外成像表明,远红外弓形激波结构可能普遍存在于这些质量流失恒星周围,尤其是当这些恒星具有高自行时。此类远红外弓形激波的更高空间分辨率数据现在允许进行详细拟合,以确定弓形激波锥相对于中心恒星日心空间运动矢量的方向,这是基于在恒星风与星际介质之间物理薄界面上的动量守恒假设下对这些弓形激波的解析解。对观测到的弓形激波结构的这种拟合分析将能够确定环境星际介质流矢量,从而建立一种探测这些相互作用系统局部的3维星际介质动力学的新技术。在这篇综述中,我们将以参宿四、长尾R和仙后座R这三个特定案例来演示这项新技术。
